METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION
BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE
SEBASTIAN REPRESENTATIVE
THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN IS SEEKING A CITY RESIDENT TO REPRESENT THE CITY ON THE METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION BICYCLE/PEDISTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
THIS IS AN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY COMMITTEE, WHICH WILL ORGANIZE IN JANUARY 2007 AND THEN MEET AS NEEDED IN VERO BEACH.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED OR FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, PLEASE CONTACT THE CITY CLERKS OFFICE, 1225 MAIN STREET, SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA BY CALLING 589-5330 MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, 8AM TO 4:30 PM. APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL FILLED.
Applications can be obtained from the Office of the City Clerk, 1225 Main Street, Sebastian, FL, 32958 between the hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday, or the application is available for viewing and printing here. The following is a list of City of Sebastian's Boards and Committees. Anyone interested in serving on a City Board of Committee may submit an application at any time to the City Clerks Office. Applications will be held for one year. Board and Committee vacancies will also be advertised on an individual basis in the Press-Journal, on the front board in City Hall, and on this web site.
ALL CITY BOARD AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS MUST BE
CITY OF SEBASTIAN RESIDENTS.
Board of Adjustment - 5 members
► The City Council acts as the Board of Adjustments and conducts variance hearings.
Charter Review Committee - 15 members
► Meets for 6 months once every 7 years starting in april to review the City Charter, conduct hearings, and recommend changes to the City Council. Will meet in 2011.
Citizens Advisory Task Force - varies
► Meets as needed to make recommendations to the City Council on Community Development Block Grants.
Citizens Budget Review Advisory Board - 7 members
► Meets for approximately 2 months each year to review the proposed budget and make recommendations to City Council
Construction Board - 7 regular members - up 2 alternates
► Meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm to approve applications for contractor licensing and conduct licensing violation hearings
Handicapped Self-Evaluation Committee
► Meets quarterly to review handicapped access needs on City properties.
Planning and Zoning Commission - 7 members and 2 alternates
► Meets on the First and Third Thursday of each month at 7:00pm to review, conduct hearings, and act on certain land development requests and amendments to the Land Development Code. The Agenda and Minutes are available on this web site.
Police Retirement Board of Trustees - 5 members
► Meets quarterly at a minimum or as called - administers police pension
Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee - 4 district members, 1 at-large member, and 2 alternates
► Meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30pm to review City recreation needs and make recommendations to City Council.
Natural Resources Board - 7 members - 2 alternates
► Meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm to improve the quality of life in Sebastian by nurturing the beneficial relationship between our citizens and our environment by protecting, preserving and promoting our natural resources.
