Project Manager of Capital Improvement Projects
The Engineering Department manages the Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) which includes
the preparation of the contract bid documents, assists in the administration of the contract
advertisement and provides the Construction Engineering Inspections (CEI). In addition, the
department monitors for conformity with state and federal regulations and with any professional
engineering and surveying practices as set forth in the Florida statutes. Capital Improvement
Projects (CIP) may also include those funded by State and Federal agencies.

Engineering Services
Other services of the department include:

  • Assist in applying for grant funds from various agencies, such as: DEP, SJRWMD, Indian River Lagoon Council, FIND and other State grants.
  • Manages the Citywide water monitoring and testing program which includes collection of water samples, laboratory testing and documentation of results
  • Attends the regional Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) as the technical liaison to the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC).
  • Act as liaison with local, state and federal agencies to coordinate, monitor and administer their projects within the city limits
  • City streets and drainage assessments and mapping
  • Review the engineering and approve private development projects, including
    subdivisions and parking lots, for surface water management and water quality
    compliance with city, state and federal regulations

engineering3Engineering Department provides for the inspection of driveway
permits. The permits are for improvements or use of the city's
right-of-ways or other city properties. Engineering staff also
conduct engineering inspections and investigations of NPDES,
drainage, traffic calming and construction projects
