Shortly, the contractor will begin compacting the road. As a result, residents/Business along Barber St. may feel vibrations. These vibrations should not damage private property.
Keep watching for more updates as we move forward with this project. And, as always, please obey the detour signs. Use only the closed section of Barber St. if you live or have business in the construction zone. For other information, please contact Ginny Sieferd at (772) 388-8222 |

Barber Street Improvements Delay |
|
I have been informed by the FDOT that the scheduled start day for the Barber Street renovation project will be delayed from February 11 for 45 days. FDOT is hopeful that the full 45 days will not be required and, in the end, the project final completion date will not be significantly altered.
The reason for the delay is in SJRWMD permitting. At the design portion of the project FDOT was under an assumption that the milling and raising of Barber Street was an exemption to stormwater permitting under the ARRA (American Reinvestment and Recovery Act). However, it has been recently determined that this assumption was in error. After quickly consulting with SJRWMD officials, FDOT representatives have filed the correct permits and will be using every effort to seek an immediate approval of permits. Both SJRWMD and FDOT representatives do not believe the review will modify design; the delay is considered administrative only. |
