For as long as she can remember, Kelly has been driven to succeed and felt called to do something larger than herself. She moved to Sebastian in 1997 with her mom and sister. A graduate of Sebastian River High School, she was in the Top 10% of her class (2001), while balancing athletics and more than one part-time job. In undergrad at UCF, she also stood out amongst her peers, earning competitive internships and a spot in the LEAD Scholars program. She served on Chapter Council as a Charter Member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, a sorority founded on leadership more than 150 years ago. As an alum, she served as Chapter Advisor.
With her degree in Broadcast Journalism, she learned how to investigate and question all sides of a story, quickly gather the facts and make contacts in the community. As a TV News Reporter, she has interviewed government officials, astronauts, celebrities, and environmentalists. She left TV News after two years, noticing the industry conflicted with her personal ethics and conservative values. She became a full-time TV Production Teacher and decided to continue her education in the process. She completed her Master's Degree in only one year and earned Salutatorian of her graduating class.
Kelly married her college sweetheart, John, in 2006 and they have two children. Kelly has volunteered in every school her children have attended, started local Girl Scout Troop 51008, served on the PTA Board at Treasure Coast Elementary and has volunteered her time with other various positions and committees in our community. She is thrilled to be a member of Sebastian City Council.
Kelly is ready to use her professional past and her love for her family, country and hometown to serve this community and gracefully guide Sebastian’s future.
