Message from Our Chief
It is my honor and privilege to serve as your Chief of Police, representing the dedicated men and women committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community and the 26,000 plus residents and many visitors who enjoy our beautiful riverfront district and parks.
Community policing has been at the heart of our department for some time. We value our partnerships with residents and strive to foster cooperation, trust, and confidence. By balancing traditional policing methods with innovative and progressive approaches, we aim to evolve alongside our citizens to meet future challenges effectively.
I encourage you to explore our website, where you'll find helpful and informative resources about our services and initiatives.
The Sebastian Police Department is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. We continuously review and update our policies, procedures, training, and technology to serve you better. Our commitment to excellence is demonstrated by our accreditation through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA). Since obtaining initial accreditation on October 2, 2002, we have successfully achieved reaccreditation in subsequent years, culminating in Excelsior status on November 1, 2017, and we are currently maintaining this prestigious recognition.
Our primary responsibility is to provide safety to our citizens and educate our community on reducing opportunities for crime to occur. The men and women of the Sebastian Police Department work hard each day to fulfill that mission through the various services we provide. We will make Sebastian the safest place to work, live, and play by building positive working relationships between our citizens and the police department.
The men and women of the Sebastian Police Department are critical to its success; however, we cannot do it alone. Through community relationships, we seek to better serve the citizens of our community. On behalf of the men and women of the Sebastian Police Department, I would like to thank you for your interest in our organization and express our appreciation for your support.
Sincerely,
Daniel Acosta
Chief of Police
